NATIONAL STANDARDS

National Standards in reading, writing and mathematics provide signposts that give teachers, children, parents, families and whānau a clear idea of where children are at in their learning and what they have to do next. Schools will report to parents, families and whānau in writing at least twice a year on their child's progress and achievement in these areas, in relation to the National Standards.

The website below gives you helpful information as to what is expected for each year level. Click this link: "Supporting Your Child’s Learning – foldouts" to download a  helpful pdf to see what the expectations are for your child after two years at school.

Reporting

Your child is reported on twice a year depending on when their birthday falls. For example, Jack's birthday is in January so he will get an anniversary report in term one and an interim report (progress towards next national standard) in term three. Emma's birthday is in October so she will receive her anniversary report in term 4 and an interim report in term 2 of the following year.

Sounds a little confusing....... I know!
